infant is a nice, soft and cozy blanket. Since the baby normally
requires a large number as well as variety of baby blankets for
different occasions, parents and elders of the family often begin
collecting or making baby blankets sometimes weeks before a baby is
born. As such, blankets form a very good gift item for babies.
The most valid reason why new borns require so many blankets is because
they are habituated to wetting them every time they are fed. And this
trend is more common during the winter season. Parents, therefore, keep
separate stock of rugged and used baby blankets for using at home and
fresh stock in case one is planning to attend a family function or any
other social gathering.
Soft, unique baby blankets can be both handmade at home and purchased
from the market. Flannel is the most common fabric used for making baby
blanket because it's very soft and warm. Baby blankets not only serve to
make the baby lie on it while sleeping, but also for wrapping the baby
for warmth. Keeping baby warm is considered very important especially
during the very initial stage.
Blankets, thus, come in a variety of shapes and patterns. The homemade
baby blankets may be stitched together using strips of soft fabrics
derived from used clothes of family members. Colorful laces can be used
as trimmings on these. Size and thickness of the baby blanket can be
kept as per one's choice. On the other hand, those available in the
market could be made out of flannel, fleece, etc.
