Dust Ruffle is a stretch of fabric that is hung
along the base of a baby crib. It basically serves two main purposes.
The primary role is to serve as an embellishment and next to prevent
dust from gathering underneath the bed. Though a dust ruffle is a common
feature of the infant crib in the nursery, it can also be used on any
type of big or small bed.
While being used in a baby crib, the dust ruffle should match the sleep
positioner, the pillow cover and the bedding set. However, at times the
baby crib dust ruffle may also be designed to go with the curtains hung
in the nursery. One can also take cue from the design and hue pattern of
the dust ruffle to co-ordinate other features in the baby room.
For instance, if there's a chair place in the nursery then its dust
ruffle can be made to match the one used for the baby crib. Now there
are many ways in which you can attach the dust ruffle to a crib. Few
dust ruffle fittings employ a kind of spandex inlay which permits it to
be stretched out around the bed. Dust ruffles may also simply envelope
around the crib and meet itself again at one location.
Another variant of the baby crib dust ruffle employs Velcro fasteners.
In this case, both the crib bed and the dust ruffle have Velcro
fasteners positioned at alternating points. When pushed together, the
Velcro pieces help hold the dust ruffle in place. Some homeowners choose
to put Velcro fasteners in the baby crib dust ruffle to ensure that it
remains in the proper position giving a snug look.
