The term baby blanket sleeper is often used as a
synonym for the baby sleeper, which is a kind of sleeping outfit donned
by newborns and slightly older kids especially during the cold winter
season. Generally, but not all the time, the baby sleeper clothing
consists of a loose one-piece outfit made out of a blanket-like fabric.
It covers the entire body of the kid except his or her head and hands.
Baby blanket sleeper can be said to comprise features of a standard
pajama as well as a bag-like covering for children like buntings and
infant sleeping bags. Since the baby sleepers are adequately warm and
soft, they serve as good substitute for regular blankets even during
cold weathers. The infant sleepers have leggings with sufficient space
to permit smooth, unhindered walking or crawling of the child.
The primary reason why a baby blanket sleeper is designed so is to keep
the wearer warm throughout the night. They serve as sensible garments
and are meant to be donned by the kids only when at home. Style and
fashion have little to do with the purpose of designing a baby sleeper
and so its design has altered very little down the years. The baby
sleeper can be worn as standalone garment or as second layering over
pajamas or any other sleepwear by kids.
The baby sleeper is supposed to be worn by the kid only during the
nighttime. There's a zipper attached in front of the outfit instead of
buttons or snap fasteners. Infant sleepers are vital for kids, for whom
light loose blankets may pose a safety hazard increasing the risk of
SIDS and for slightly older children, who may still be too young to be
relied upon to keep their own sleepwear or bed covers adjusted so as to
prevent exposure of bare skin to air.
